About RentMath

RentMath is a free website with calculators and plain-language explanations of rent rules in Canada. It starts with the yearly rent increase guidelines in Ontario and Manitoba. It is for landlords, tenants and anyone who wants to check a number before sending or answering a notice.

How it works

The calculators run in your browser. What you type is not uploaded, saved or shared. All the legal numbers (the yearly guidelines, notice periods and limits) are kept in one place, each with a link to the government page it came from and the date we last checked it.

What we promise

• Official sources first. If we could not confirm a number on an official page, the page says so.
• No account, no payment and no card details.
• Plain wording about the limits. Rent rules have exceptions, and a calculator cannot know your situation.
• The numbers are updated every year, when the new guidelines are announced.

What we are not

RentMath is not a government website and is not connected to the Landlord and Tenant Board (Tribunals Ontario) or the Residential Tenancies Branch. We do not give legal advice. Please read the Disclaimer.
